As a Facilitator with extensive experience in the areas of Governance, Leadership and Management, Ruth is often asked to facilitate discussions and decisions in the following areas:
Governance Design and Modelling
Leadership and Management Development
Strategic Thinking, Planning and Change
Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution
Ruth’s interest in complexity science – the study of complex adaptive living systems – informs her approach in each of these areas. Like organizations, living systems exhibit patterns of relationships; to adapt and evolve in highly complex environments living systems tend to self-organize. Applying a complexity lens to organizations permits us to look beyond traditional mechanical frameworks to embrace the dynamic nature of organizations and their relationships within complex environments.

Does your team:
Visioning is a powerful process for engaging your team in articulating and committing to a future direction. Facilitating conversations about a shared vision builds consensus, commitment and excitement for the desired future. Scenario planning enables your team to consider a variety of possible futures and position the organization today to achieve its vision tomorrow.
How we can help:
Governance Design and Modelling

Does your board:
Governance is in an evolutionary stage: more rigid traditional models don’t often meet the needs of today’s increasingly complex environments. Adaptive or Hybrid Governance Models are emerging as the most viable alternative. Their inherent flexibility allows them to evolve quickly with an organization as it transforms. How we can help:
Leadership & Management Development
Does your leadership:
Strategic leadership is critical to an organization’s ability to succeed in complex and dynamic environments. Leaders are responsible for articulating and enacting an organization’s Mission and Vision. Leaders who create a learning and performance culture can engage stakeholders to work collaboratively to attain a shared vision. To embrace and navigate change successfully, leaders need to understand and learn from change in addition to having the core competencies required to nurture change.
How we can help:
Strategic Thinking, Planning & Change

Does your leadership:
Strategic thinking and planning keeps an organization connected to its external environment and helps align resources with strategic directions. Involving an external facilitator in these processes can bring structure and build consensus around a shared vision. Creating conditions for change-ability in complex environments is a critical factor for success in implementing strategic directions.
How we can help:
Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution
Does your organization:
Negotiation skills are now a core competency in developing effective strategic alliances, partnerships and joint ventures. Mediating and resolving conflict are key to reconciling diverse perspectives and finding creative solutions.
